Purim Story Continues

Haman pulling the horse Mordechai was on as a rewarded for saving the king's life while chanting "Thus shall be done to the man whom the king wishes to honor." Afterwards, he grumpily went to attend the party he was invited to by the Queen.

Esther told the king at the second party that it was Haman, his adviser, who was trying to get rid of her people, the Jewish nation. This was the first time she revealed her identity as a Jew to the king. The king couldnt believe that Haman would want to do that to his Queen and her nation. He quicky told his gaurds to come get Haman and take him away. Now, the Jewish people were saved from Haman's plan and they were victorious instead.
Mordechai and Esther wrote the Megillah, and asked that the Jewish people celebrate the Holiday of Purim each year. This would be to remember the miracles that took place in Persia that year and how Hashem made different events unfold such as Esther becoming Queen so that one day she will be able to help her brothers in need.
The 4 Mitzvos of Purim are to;
1. Hear the megillah.
2. Give presents of food - Mishloach Manos to at least one person.
3. Give Tzedakah / money to at least 2 people.
4. Eat a meal

Letter Pay

This week our Mailman David G. brought us the letter Pay. It has a big curve going up, a little coming down, and a dot.
We learned many hints to remember letter Pay.
1. A penny was rolling around until it got into the Pushka ( Yiddish for Tzeddaka Box)
2. It has a big nose with a dot.
3. It looks like a "peel" (hebrew for elephant) with a big trunk eating a peanut.

The Purim Story

King Achashveirosh made a big feast for all the people in Persia. He invited everyone to see all the expensive and rich things he had in his palace. There was a Jewish Leader named Mordechai who told the Jewish people not to join the party since there was food that wasnt kosher. Many Jews listened, yet there were some Jews who couldnt resist the temptations of going the Kings Palace and feast.

Achashveirosh told his messengers to call his wife Vashti so he can show her off to all the people at the party since she was very beautiful. She went to the mirror to give herself some last touches before she would be on her way, when she noticed in horror that she had these big red hot pimples all over her face.

She then looked down to see a frightful tail growing out of her back. She quickly turned to the messengers and sharply responded, "Tell the King I will not come." The King could not digest Vashti's answer. He couldnt beleive his Queen would refuse his request. His advisor Haman said, "Your Highness, Vashti should be gotten rid of. She cannot deny the King's request." And so he did. Vashti was taken away.
The next day, he woke up asking for Vashti and remembered the horrible advise Haman gave him to get rid of his Queen Vashti.

He couldnt be without a Queen. He thought of a plan how to get a new Queen. He called all the girls in Persia and told them they all need to dress up and he would choose his new queen.
(Here, the boys are the judges and the girls are all dressed up waiting to be the chosen one.)

Mordechai saved the King's life since he heard two servants of the King trying to get rid of him because they wanted to take over and become king. The King was so grateful to Mordechai for what he did and wrote down that good deed in the big book in which he writes the good things people do for him.

Haman walked around with an idol around his neck. Wherever he went he made sure people bowed down to him. Mordechai refused to do so. This made Haman really upset. He went to Achashveirosh with a plan to get rid of the Jewish nation. The king agreed not knowing which nation it was. When Mordechai found out about this plan, he quickly went to Esther she must be brave and go tell the King that Haman was planning to get rid of her nation the Jews. She went to the King's chambers and all she asked was that the King and Haman come to a party she has prepared for them.

At the party, Achashveirosh asked what Esther wanted and all she said was that they come agian for another party she will prepare for them. They agreed.

We added to the excitement of our Shabbos Party this week by putting lipstick on the girls and mustaches on the boychicks.

Letter Ayin

This week Emma was our Mail Carrier. She brought in the letter Ayin. It has one big line going down, one big line on the bottom and one big slanted line going down.
Our friend Emma begins with Ayin. Emma pretended to go the bakery with her mom to choose an oogah- cake and oogiyot- cookies for her birthday. We then all pretended to go to her birthday party. Afterwards, we wrote the letter Ayin in the big ooga drawn on the board.

We also decorated an Ogiayah-cookie with the letter Ayin.

letter Samach

Our Mailman Mordechai brought us the letter Samach. It looks similar to Mem Sofis, yet the difference is that the samach has a slide and the Mem Sofis has a corner.
The way we learned to write the Samach was quite simple. It has one big curve going down, and one big curve coming up. It looks just like a circle.

The Samach looks round like a seder plate.

That is what we learned!

Past two weeks we learned few letters - the letter A and the letter V.  The letter A is a smiling letter. When we say its sound we give a smile. To make the letter A we need two big lines and one big line. Pre-K friends noticed right away that Ari's name and his mom's name , Eliana's last name, Emma's older brother's name and, David's S. father's name start with this letter.
to review the letter A please visit http://www.starfall.com/n/level-k/letter-a/load.htm?f
V is for vacuum. V is for voice.
V is for Ari's father's name- Vladimir and for David G. babysitter's name- Vera. To make the letter we need two big lines. To review the letter please visit  http://www.starfall.com/n/level-k/letter-v/load.htm?f

Next week letter will be the letter M. To pre-teach the letter please visit http://www.starfall.com/n/level-k/letter-m/load.htm?f

Pre-K friends learned about the number 9. The number is located between two numbers 8 and 10.
9 is more than 8 but less than 10.
Friends discussed what 9 black dots can make. Some friends said that their 9 black dots can make 9 flowers, 9 stars in the sky, or 9 dots can make three puppy faces.

Mazel Tov! Mazel Tov!

Turning 5 is getting popular in our classroom! This week friends celebrated Mickey's 5th Happy Birthday!
Morahs and Pre-K friends wish Mickey to be healthy, to learn Torah, to have a lot of friends, and cakes, candies, cupcakes, and building.

Dear Mickey's Family, thank you for joining us in our festive celebration! Thank you from all friends for special party bags! May you have only simcha from Mickey!
