Pre-K friends discussed the importance of reading books. Friends said that people need books because they learn something new from them. But where can we get books? Some friends said in a book store, Mickey said in the library. Pre-K friends decided to explore and see if there is a library in our community. Luckily, we found one right on Brighton Beach Avenue.
In the library, we were met by the librarian Steve who led us to an auditorium where he read us two very interesting books. One book was about an artist who drew different animals using unusual from them colors. Other book was about different kinds of birds. After book reading, Steve showed us around the library. He showed us where is children's section. WOW! There we saw a lot of books.
Library has a lot of books. Some are fiction and some are non-fiction. Friends learned that FICTION is an entertaining, make-believe story that is not real; non-fiction is true information that gives us facts to explain something. You can practice deciding if what you hear is fiction or non-fiction at ttp://www.studyzone.org/testprep/ela4/i/fictionnonp1st.cfm
Friends choose some books they thought would be interesting to read. They looked at the covers and made predictions what these books might be about. Then everyone took time to look inside the books to see if their predictions are correct.
We learned about the library cards and library lending system. To get a book for the library, one needs a library card that let's to borrow any book from the library for three weeks. After 3 weeks, the book should be returned or renewed. Ari returned books that he had borrowed three weeks ago.
