This week Pre-K has started new unit “Our World." The world amazes us every day. Hashem created it for us. On the first day of creation, Hashem created light and separated it from the dark. He called the light- day and the dark- night. Light is all around us. Friends discussed why light is good,
Light is good because people can see what they are doing. (David G)
...because we can go outside to play. (Mordechai Yisroel)
... because we can read Siddur and daven. (David S)
... because we can see where to push a stroller or scooter. (Emma)
... because when I ride a scooter and see where I go. (Liza)
... because we can read books. (Rachel)
... because people can see it. (Leon)
... because we can see ABC and learn Alef Beis. (Naomi)
... because it is good for everyone. It keeps us safe outside. (Mickey)
... because people can watch TV. (Sophie)
... because it keeps us (whole world)safe. (Ari)
... because I can see when I ride a bicycle. (Eliana)
Friends made list of things that make light- sun, stars, lightening, fire, candle, flashlight, fireworks, fireflies, and lamps. We discovered that things that make light are hot. One of the hottest is SUN. It gives us light and warmth. Sun is a closest star to the Earth, that is why we can see it and feel its warmth.
Some things need Energy to make light. For example, flashlights need batteries, lamps need electricity. Energy is everywhere- it lights up our houses, it warms us up, it plays music and move cars, buses and trains.
